Our equipment, training, and certification were provided through Nelson & Pade. We are currently working in a contract with Chief Supermarket to sell produce at their Cable Rd. location.

Neighborhood Aquaponics is currently growing tomatoes, and mutliple varieties of lettuce. The produce is fertilized by Tilapia which are harvested once they reach full sized adulthood.

fun facts

  • Production

Aquaponics produces both fish and organic vegetables, in a dynamic, natural, pond-type ecosystem

  • Faster Growing Cycles

Vegetables usually grow significantly faster, and at three to four times the density, without ever depleting the nutrients. Our first harvest was 38 days from planting to being available in store.

  • Chemical Free!

Aquaponic growing grows 100% chemical free, all natural produce that means our produce never touches any chemical or synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.

  • Saves Water

Aquaponics uses about 90% less water than conventional farming. This is because the water is recycled and returns to the tank once it has passed through the grow beds.

  • It's GREEN Farming

Aquaponics energy usage is from 70% to 92% less than a conventional or organic farm which use fuel and/or petrochemical-intensive fertilizers.

  • Almost Labor Free

While Matt currently handles planting, harvesting and feeding of the fish- the system requires no labor tilling, cultivating, fertilizer spreading, compost shredding, manure spreading, plowing cover crops in, or irrigating.

  • Growing Year Around

Our aquaponic system can produce fish and vegetables intensively throughout the year outdoors in our environmentally controlled greenhouse, so we can provide fresh produce the entire year!

  • Natural Technology

Aquaponics is the least consumptive method of agriculture because it is based on natural technology. Nothing is wasted.
